Finishing off strong, the 2020 eMTB season came to an end this past weekend. The Impakt Results/Wamsley Cycles team had their final GNCC EMTB Series, presented by Specialized, this weekend.
Our rider, Adam Mayhew ended up on top with the championship taking home the amateur national championship, beating out two other cyclists, one being his teammate Canon Kuneff, for the top spot. Whoever won that final round, won the title.
“Coming into the final round I knew a win was needed to secure the championship and end the season with a statement,” said Mayhew, talking about his ride. “I was patient during the first lap, really getting a feel for the track and taking time to find solid lines… the second lap I made a few passes and took the lead. I pushed hard to get the separation from the rest of the field and rode a consistent race, staying off the ground.”
Luke Nesler, team manager and rider said, “I’m extremely excited for Adam and his accomplishment of winning the 2020 GNCC EMTB National Championship in the Amateur Division. I know how much it meant to him, how hard he’s worked, and how bad he wanted it. And to see him come across the finish line and tell me he got the job done, we shared a special moment, and I’m so excited for him.”
To shape out the season, all Impakt team members finished in great standings! For the season, Cooper Kuneff placed 2nd in the Youth Class, Ashley Hendershot placing 2nd for the Women’s, and Colin Dierman placed 3rd in the Masters. Several other placed in the top ten as well!
Wrapping up the 2020 season, the team looks forward to the year coming and getting to race again.
Mayhew spoke some final thoughts about the end of the season, “Winning the GNCC eMTB Amateur Championship feels amazing. A major accomplishment not just for me personally, but for the entire Impakt Results Wamsley Cycles team. My family and I are really looking forward to the 2021 season.”
